IF YOU NEED TO REHOME YOUR DOG

We realise that the process of rehoming your dog can be very stressful and that you want the best for your pet.
It can also be stressful for the dog and to alleviate this we try to rehome direct from the present home to the new one where possible. We do have foster homes for more urgent cases but even these places generally have a waiting list for them. We also use kennels at a bull breed experienced boarding kennels but these are more generally used for dogs coming from stray kennels where they need more in depth assessing before being placed in a home. Occasionally we do have to use them for other dogs in an emergency situation, but we try not to.
We don't ask for a fee for rehoming a dog, but a donation is much appreciated as it helps us in our work with the less fortunate dogs coming to us. We do ask that your dogs vaccinations are up to date and for dogs to be neutered prior to being rehomed where possible. This will make them more attractive to people to adopt. There are many dogs needing new homes both in our rescue and others and to enable your dog to find a home more quickly the more attractive he needs to be. If someone has a choice between two they are going to choose the one that doesn't need them to take to the vets for neutering and vaccinations
You will be asked to sign a form which relinquishes your ownership of the dog over to us, although you may never meet the new owners you are able to contact us periodically to enquire how the dog is, some new owners are happy to send photos for us to pass on, but they are not obliged to do so. We do however try to remain in contact with the adoptive owners throughout the dogs life and they are not allowed to pass the dog onto a third party, if they are no longer able to keep the dog at any time in the future they have to notify us and we then arrange a further placement for the dog.
We do visit to assess the dogs prior to offering them for adoption, this helps us to know what sort of home we are looking for, we are aware that some dogs don't take kindly to strangers being in their homes and this will be taken into consideration, but as it is part of the dogs nature it is something we do need to know.
All new homes are checked out and several telephone conversations take place before a decision is made on whether the applicants for a dog are indeed suitable. We match dogs to homes rather than let people pick a dog they like the look of, if we feel a dog isn't suitable for a particular home we will steer them to one that is.
If you would like us to rehome your dog please complete the following form, please complete every section truthfully, if your dog has a problem we need to know.
