Bullies In Need was set up by 3 bull terrier owners in 2002 as a bull terrier rescue after the need for more breed rescue spaces became apparent from the feedback received on the Bullie Bar forum. Only one of the founder members is still involved with BIN today
Back then we took in bull terriers and bull terrier crosses, when spaces were available. In 2009 we also started American Bulldog Rescue as there was no breed rescue available and we kept getting asked to take them. We soon realised that running the two rescues seperately was going to be difficult, so the administration combined but still continued with separate web sites and forums. During 2010 we evolved further, we were often asked to take on other bull breeds and as long as we had a foster place we agreed to help. So many bull breeds are being put to sleep in pounds, unloved and unwanted and we couldn’t just sit by and not do anything. So we have rehomed a few bullmastifs and crosses, a Dogue de Bordeaux cross, several Staffies and crosses and an English bulldog! Bull terriers are still our main breed and we will continue to give them priority, we help as many American bulldogs as we can but unfortunately the numbers are too high for us to help them all. We do have a lot of involvement from American bulldog people , they are a great help with fundraising, fostering and transport and without this we wouldn’t be able to help as many as we do. Our team has had many changes and at last I feel we have the right people involved. Our team of coordinators are highly motivated, compassionate and hard working and they are supported by a network of volunteers ; fosterers, transporters, fundraisers etc. none of whom we can continue the work without. We do this completely voluntarily so please be patient and polite if you don't receive an immediate reply when you send an email. Thank you | OUR OBJECTIVES
