Winston

Winston

Breed: American Bulldog
Summary: This lovely lad is Winston he is between 3 and 4 yrs old is castrated, has lived with cats and children. He has had too many homes in his short life and is ready to settle down with people who deserve to share their lives with him.

Winston is a big lad, but really is a gentle giant. He has been in kennels for several weeks and lack of exercise has resulted in him putting on a few pounds. He should easily lose this once he starts to get more active. Make no mistake though, he will always be big as that is the way he is built.

He is really strong and does need a strong handler otherwise you will spend more time being dragged along the ground than walking, no fun in a waterlogged field (just ask the person who was with him in the middle picture!)

With a bit of training and affection he really will make a smashing dog. If you are into canine sports such as weight pulling he would probably be ideal for that as he needs something active to enjoy and certainly has the strength!

Please do think carefully before applying for Winston, this really does need to be his last home and due to his size he won't fit into everyone's family.

At the moment he is in a foster home in Essex and you will need to travel there to see him.

If you think Winston is for you please fill in an American Bulldog Rescue questionnaire.

Holly

Holly

Re-homed

Age: 18 months
Sex: Female
Breed: American Bulldog
Colour: White
Reason for rescue: Change in owners cicumstances
Neutered: Unknown
Vaccinated: Yes
Medical history: No medical issues
Likes: Holly loves lots of love and attention
Area: London
Summary: Holly is a 1.5 year old female American Bulldog. She has been in foster care in London for 5 months. She has been so good to us, super lovable and easy to take care of. She would benefit from being in a home with a large garden or a farm as she is so happy running around outside and needs a lot of space. At home she is very calm and doesn't run around but is happiest outside. That said, she is happiest being around people and wouldn't be happy as an outdoor dog, needs human attention/love.

House Trained:

* She is toilet trained, NEVER does anything indoors, will always let you know.
* She is never destructive with anything other than her own items (toys and bed).
* Knows how to sit, lie down, stay and shake a paw.
* Can be alone at home while you are at work

Issues:

* Needs a dominant owner who is willing to continue training her to not be possessive when it comes to eating something. She will not allow you to take anything she is eating out of her mouth but is learning to DROP on command.
* Get's nervous/anxious when she sees reflections against the wall (from light on shiny objects). Will bark at them and jump to try and get the reflection. Calms down if you comfort her and tell her to stop.
* This does not include flashing lights on appliances, bicycles, cars etc, she is fine with all lights.

Walks:

* Walks well on a retractable leash, reaches the end and stops, doesn't pull.
* Trained to stop at corners on command (Stop) but needs to continue practicing this as it has only been 3 months but she has responded well.
* Can be left off the leash in the park, will always stay within a few feet and follows you. Sometimes distracted if she find food but won't run away. Loves playing with other dogs.
* Recently learned to swim and loves it!

Behaviour and personality:

* Not aggressive with people and dogs. Good with children but wouldn't leave her alone with them until she is over her food issue.
* Likes to play with people and her toys.
* Loves being around humans and loves hugs/attention
* Very patient and quiet.

Age: 11 Months
Sex: Female
Breed: American Bulldog X Staffie
Area: Walsall
Summary: Roxie is 11 months old,English bulldog x Staffie.she has not yet had a season.

She is good with other dogs, but also playful and boisterous in typical staffie fashion.

The same applies with kids, she loves them but can get too much. Sheives with a cat but needs supersvision, although generally ok.

Pulls a little on lead but not too bad. has good recall but if playing with another dog in the park she will ignore you .

She is good with strangers but does tend to jump up with excitement.

If left alone for too long she can get destructive. 4 hours maximum. She is completely housetrained. Sleeps at side of owners bed. needs a firm hand as she tends to think she is in charge.

She is well loved by her owner but circumstances have changed and she is having to leave her 9 hours a day and Roxie is rebelling.
